Pedestrians and equipment protected in JCL Logistics’ bicycle distribution center
JCL Logistics needed robust safety solutions to protect pedestrians and infrastructure from forklift collisions. Boplan installed a range of protection products, including rack protection, column protection, safety barriers, and handrails.
The challenge
In its busy distribution center, JCL Logistics required effective safety protection measures to prevent industrial accidents and equipment damage. A safety analysis mapped pedestrian and traffic flows, highlighting the high risk of forklift collisions. Pedestrians were particularly vulnerable in open areas near stairs or when entering the logistics zone. Ventilation and fire protection systems were also vulnerable to damage.
To prevent accidents, it's crucial to alert pedestrians to forklift traffic. Additionally, pedestrians and installations need protection in case of steering errors or inattentiveness by forklift drivers. Boplan’s tailored safety solutions significantly enhanced safety at this site.
These safety products heighten pedestrian awareness of forklift traffic, ensuring greater vigilance when entering the logistics center. Rack protection
In a high-traffic distribution centre, a stacking rack is a vulnerable asset. An accident can happen quickly; in the best-case scenario, there is only limited damage. Unfortunately, even worse accidents happen. JCL Logistics relies on RACKBULL® for rack protection. This innovative rack protection prevents stacking racks from collapsing in the event of collisions and is easy to install. An additional advantage is that the exact size does not matter as the RACKBULL® fits different diameters.
Column protection
Columns also often suffer from collisions. The KP Protector offers ideal protection here. This round column protector helps prevent damage from collisions with masts and load-bearing pillars. The KP Protector comes in different sizes and, like our other FLEX IMPACT® products, retains its shape, appearance and properties after impact.

Handrails
A combination of plinths and handrails protects pedestrians, infrastructure, and equipment. The FLIP200F PLUS consists of ergonomic handrails and has a sturdy plinth at the bottom. It shields the ventilation system, prevents people from falling into the open space, and prevents the system from being damaged when pallets are stored here.
Safety barriers
At JCL Logistics, several TB 260 Plus collision guards at strategic locations separate pedestrian traffic from motorized traffic.
A distinguishing feature of the TB 260 Plus is the protection tube. This is located low to the ground and is therefore extra sturdy. The double safety fence accompanies pedestrians and prevents them from simply falling into the path of rolling stock when entering or descending the stairs. The offices in the workshop also received TB 260 Plus protection.
The TB 260 Plus has the standard yellow colorat JCL Logistics, except where it is used to protect fire safety equipment. There, it has a red color that is common for anything related to fire safety. Think of fire extinguishers, for example. Thanks to that recognizability, the color here supports the function. This allows for quick and efficient switching in precarious situations.
